Thanks for a Successful Tree Chipping—Jan. 9th, 2010

Posted January 27th, 2010 by Georgia

Dear Friends:
We can all feel pleased with a very successful Tree Chipping two weeks ago. A record 720 trees were chipped and many, many bags of mulch were taken off by people to put in their tree pits or gardens. Several truck loads of mulch went to Red Hook Park for the garden there. All in all, it was a wonderful Community Event and we can be quite proud of our efforts.
Thanks to our Members: Linda Blyer, Sarah Erlij, John Kibbe, Gale, Ian and Tom Synnott, Georgia Willett and Dick Van Bolt.
AND Leroy Branch of CB-6 who negotiated with Sanitation not to pick up trees the week before. Tom Ching, Deputy Director of Operations for Brooklyn Parks who helped keep things moving and worked with me filling mulch bags. Andy Rabb, Brooklyn Forester who provided much-needed moral support at a crucial moment.
AND the very helpful Boy Scouts of Troop 815—Lou Garcia, Scout Master and Troop 213—Rich Kelley, Scout Master and Chris Conner, Ass’t Scout Master—who cheerfully gathered trees from streets and trucks.
AND OF COURSE Hollis Fitch, Master Chipper, whose efficiency and good humor made it all possible.
With thanks and best wishes,
Tom Synnott, Co-chair
Cobble Hill Tree Fund
